Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal
Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal (FODAR) returns for its fourth season. Atlantic Canada’s only summer contemporary dance festival presents leading artists and companies on the leading edge of Canadian contemporary dance and classic landmark productions from the past. This year’s festival has been curated to mark Canada’s 150th Anniversary and celebrates the diversity of our country and its rich dance history.
PROGRAM TWO – Suitable for ages 16 years and up
- World Premiere – This original work commissioned by FODAR fuses contemporary and traditional flamenco performed by Maria Osende and Megan Matheson Hamilton.
- Native American Hoop Dance – Originally from the Mohawk First Nation of Kahnawake, dancer and choreographer Barbara Diabo specializes in both traditional and contemporary Aboriginal dance.
- Sacred Garden (1986) – A hauntingly beautiful duet created by David Earle, one of Canada’s most celebrated and passionate choreographers.
Boys Will Be Men (1985) – A mischievous yet poignant duet exploring themes of relationships, gender and power, performed by Toronto-based dancers Michael Caldwell and Louis Laberge Côté.
